Supervision Philosophy

My supervision philosophy leads me to meet you developmentally. I strive to help you build confidence in yourself, to help you learn valuable and necessary skills, and to support you in the the sometimes nail-biting experience of being a pre-licensed therapist.

I am most effective with supervisees who are prepared to be challenged; who are willing to do honest and vulnerable reflection of their growth, learning, and experience; and who exhibit qualities such as good organization, accountability to actions and choices, and awareness or willingness to challenge implicit biases and blind spots.

Training + Experience Providing Supervision

I meet the requirements to perform duties as a Washington State Supervisor as specified in the Washington Administrative Code (WAC 246-809-134). My experience providing clinical supervision has been both through ongoing supervision of pre-licensed therapists in an agency setting as well as in an internship classroom setting with bachelor’s level therapists pursuing their master’s degrees in marriage, couple, and family therapy. I additionally have experience in a teaching capacity with The Graduate School of Education and Counseling at Lewis and Clark College in Portland, Oregon, providing clinical skills education to first year graduate students.

Teaching + Guest Speaking

I am open to inquires for teaching courses regarding clinical skills. I am also open to inquires regarding guest speaking opportunities.
